We all know about Honda's long-overdue supercar- the NSX. Most of us are already bored of it, since we've been teased with it for nearly five years. We already know it will be a 500+ horsepower hybrid supercar with AWD. What we don't know is how it will perform. Here's my thought: what if it turns out to be a world-beater?
Here's my reasoning. The Nissan GT-R.
What is it? A Japanese 500+ horsepower AWD supercar. What's the NSX? A Japanese 500+ horsepower AWD supercar. Both have V6 engines approximately the same size. It will most certainly be lighter than the overweight Nissan. Sure, the GT-R has billions of computers governing its performance, but we don't know exactly what the NSX will be equipped with.
I have faith that the NSX, when it does finally get released, will be better than anyone else though it would be. Now we play the waiting game.

What if unicorns are real? What if there is a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow?
These are questions that will be answered before Honda releases a new NSX.

I think it's best chance would be if it came in somewhere between the i8 and 918/P1. A true performer in a way the i8 is not, but more attainable than the insanely high end stuff, although I think an i8 competitor would be closer to the original NSX ethos.

I want to believe. But I doubt. Maybe they will have it for us after next years Formula 1 Constructors Championship with McLaren-Honda

Ooh, I got another one:
What if Jalopnik starts to respect the NSX?

Jalopnik loves the NSX. I'm sure they'd love the new one too, if they ever build the damn thing.

Will Honda release the NSX? Will people care? Find out on the next episode of DRAGON BALL Z!

I'm thinking that the NSX is some sort of secret coalition between Honda and McLaren to celebrate their F1 partnership.
After all, the original NSX was tuned by Ayrton Senna.

We respect the NA1 and NA2 versions, especially since Senna helped developed it and drove a Type-R around Suzuka like a madman while wearing loafers.

Wouldn't that be amazing?
And the slightly more upmarket one would become that new McLaren sub 650S model?

how long has the concept been out? how does that compare to when the new Camaro came out? I feel like the Camaro was outdated by the time it hit the showroom it had been around for so long.

My only problem with this is that it's been in development for so long that by now, whatever car they set as the benchmark is probably about to get replaced or go into its second generation itself. So they're probably consistently updating the design, keeping the poor thing development hell.
BUT! I do see the new NSX being a good 458/650S/GT-R competitor if Honda is keeping pace with development.

It won't be great. Honda has proven with the CR-Z and lame new Civic Si that it has completely lost touch with Soichiro's vision. Honda died when they killed the RSX.

The NSX will suffer a similar fate as the LFA.
Far too many years in development = the competition is past it by the time it's released.

I don't doubt that it WOULD be great when it was originally going to compete with this gen R8 and 996 911. But by the time this comes out, it'll be subpar compared to what will be available

well, NSX has hybrid stuff weighing it down, so I dont expect the mass to be TOO far off the GTR
